The Friends of the Library are committed to providing annual financial and volunteer support to the South Pasadena Public Library.
This year, the Friends will double its efforts to support the library
as we provide additional outreach and volunteers for the
Measure L Campaign.
Overwhelmingly supported in 1994, 1999, 2005 and again in 2009, Measure L is the parcel tax that provides critical financial support for our library. It is up to all of us who love and support the library to vote YES on Measure L on November 3rd. Funding from Measure L provides 15% of the library’s annual budget and its failure in November would certainly result in reduced library hours and staffing, as well as a reduction in programs and budgets for books, ebooks, audiobooks, DVDs and CDs.This year’s Measure L initiative would include a modest increase over the rate set in 1994 to account for inflation over the past 21 years and the term of the tax would be extended to eight years. The renewed parcel tax rate would be approximately $32 per year for most South Pasadena homes.
Passage of Measure L on November 3rd is a critical component in the library’s future success and I encourage you all to Donate, become and Endorser and request a Lawn Sign by visiting the Measure L website. Just click on the “Read More” link!

The mission of the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library, Inc.
is to serve the informational, educational, recreational, and cultural needs of
the patrons of the Library and the community at large. The Friends contribute
their time, effort, and resources and seek to engage the widest possible
community participation in this effort.
Since our library's genesis as a "free public reading room" in the 1890s,
it has enjoyed the support of public-spirited community leaders. In 1950, that support crystallized with the formation of the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library, Inc. Today, more than 700 Friends help to maintain our library's role as a cornerstone of community life.

The Friends support and enhance library services in many ways.
As a member, you may choose to volunteer for:
