The mission of the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library, Inc.
is to serve the informational, educational, recreational, and cultural needs of
the patrons of the Library and the community at large.
Since our library's genesis as a "free public reading room" in the 1890s,
it has enjoyed the support of public-spirited community leaders. In 1950, that support
crystallized with the formation of the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library, Inc. Today, more than 700 Friends help to maintain our library's role as a cornerstone of community life.

The Friends support and enhance library services in many ways.
As a member, you may choose to volunteer for:

The Friends Bookstore: staffing
Restoration Concerts: refreshments
Special event committees: planning, logistics
to contribute to the Technology Endowment Fund or Book Endowment Fund, perpetual
memorials whose income is dedicated to the purchase of high-quality books and
materials not affordable through the library's regular budget.

The Friends of the Library is proud to say Thank You to the hundreds of
individuals, foundations, corporations, local businesses and organizations who contributed money and in-kind contributions to the Friends in 2015. Each year,
the Friends board of directors produces an Annual Report to highlight
and acknowledge these special "Friends" of the library.
Please take a moment to take a look at the 2015 Annual Report.
We are truly grateful for your support!
