S
ince our library's genesis as a "free public reading room" in the 1890s, it has enjoyed the support of public-spirited community leaders.
In 1950, that support crystallized with the formation of the Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library, Inc.
Today, more than 700 Friends help to maintain our library's role as a cornerstone of community life.

The Friends support and enhance library services in many ways. As a member, you may choose to volunteer for:

  • The Friends Bookstore: staffing
  • Restoration Concerts: refreshments
  • Special event committees: planning, logistics

or to contribute to the Book Endowment Fund or Technology Endowment Fund,
perpetual memorials whose income is dedicated to the purchase of high-quality
books and materials not affordable through the library's regular budget.
