Three things are always
welcomed by the Friends Bookstore: donations, patrons and volunteers.
You can bring donations
to the library at any time and leave them at the reference desk
or use the driveway off Fairview Avenue and drop them off at the
library's back door. Or, for really, really big donations-say 10
boxes worth---we can help arrange a pick-up: call 626-441-5294.
Video and audio recordings, CD's and DVD's, and some magazines are
also accepted. But please, no outdated law, medical or textbooks.
You can browse or buy seven days a week in our second floor bookstore
(accessible by elevator or stairs), select from our least expensive
book shelves on the main floor or, if a special sale is in progress,
choose from the tables in front of the shelves. You might want to
check out the offerings in our monthly Silent Auction. They'll be
in the glass display case to your right as you enter the library.
You can volunteer to work
in the bookstore by asking for an application in the library's administrative
office on the second floor or leave your name and telephone number
with a staffer in the bookstore and the chairperson of the steering
committee which operates the bookstore will call you to arrange
an appointment.
Some of the approximate
60 men and women who staff the bookstore have served in it since
its beginning in 1982, helping to earn more than $750,000 which
has been used to benefit the library in myriad ways. Join them-you'll
like them!
Check out
our special sale tables, "last chance" shelves and silent
auction on the main floor, then come and see what the bookstore
offers on the second floor. And check our Coming
Events page for details of upcoming special sales.
